Calling all music fans! Colour of London, the voice of Alex and Ani, and David Cook, season 7 winner of American Idol, recently performed at Maryville University‘s spring send-off week, NEXFALAIWANACYA. This was the largest event in the school’s history and was held in the Maloney Arena.
As you know, Colour of London‘s Jimmie Allen was a top 40 contestant on season 10 of American Idol. After sound check, he met up with Cook backstage to talk about their common history and gifted him a Vintage Sixty-Six by Alex and Ani Gypsy 66 Wrap (above photo). Talk about a moment of positive energy!
Much like Colour of London, Cook views songwriting as an opportunity to tell a story. He aims to write music that is personal yet resonates with people everywhere.
“One of the things I love about songwriting here is that it’s more story telling based and there’s a little bit more of an emphasis on the lyrics. When you listen to a lot of popular music right now, it almost seems like that’s becoming a lost art. I’ve always loved those songs that tell a great story and that’s something I’ve really tapped into here. I like writing in a way where I know I’m telling a story, and it’s obvious that there is a story there, but it’s big enough to where people can find what they want in it.” – David Cook, DavidCookOfficial.com
Colour of London and Cook brought the house down with their powerful music and vocals. We’re glad to have brought some positive energy to Maryville University!
